Mark’s virtual reality universe has been surrounded by too many problems lately, from technical issues to difficulty holding onto the staff.
One of the latest ones is about Meta’s virtual environment; Meta customizes news feeds and hyper-targeted information; both could take too much power inside the Metaverse. How? well, the speaker could customize their character to look 40% more trustworthy depending on each kind of audience without the members knowing.
Meta is on board with this problem now, but other companies didn’t want to wait to find a solution on their own; the New York Times, the BBC, CBC Radio Canada, and Microsoft launched Project Origin two years ago; its goal is to prove whether a message really comes from the source it says it’s coming. So, will Facebook use this system to improve Meta’s environment?
This year they released a new version of Project Origin, and many members of these companies are already using it. Mark knows that not trusting the information on its platform is a problem; Meta predicted the industry be worth $5 trillion by 2030; if Meta’s environment is full of fake information, that prediction will turn into nothing.
One thing is for sure, Meta is working hard creating the Metaverse; we just have to wait and see what they bring.
